SEASON IV

Dear dancers,⁣

After 3 amazing seasons, I have had to make the incredible difficult decision not to start SEASON IV in September.⁣

I have absolutely loved facilitating this community in all its beauty and am so proud to be heading such a special program, but there is an immense amount of responsibilities that come with it. I’ve been running so hard to create a place for others where they can create a healthy relationship with dance, themselves and their bodies, but it’s been keeping me from doing the work myself and it has started to take its toll.⁣

So as of this summer I will be taking a couple of months to recharge, reflect and focus on getting myself healthy again. To recognize my boundaries and build from a healthier place, so I can actually lead by example. One of my main goals for MAREA has been helping our members to prioritize their mental and physical health over anything else and setting a healthy example for dancers everywhere. With that in mind, it doesn’t feel honest to continue the program as it is now.⁣

I am extremely proud of what this program has become, and I recognize the importance of it to all our members. But exactly because of that, I want to make sure I am able to fully embody and honor the role as your Artistic Director, and ready to do so in healthier ways.⁣

To be clear, I have no intention of letting this be the end of MAREA, but I need to protect myself by not making any promises as of yet on if, how or when the program will return. It just means that for now we won’t be hosting an audition in July.⁣

It is with a heavy heart that I am making this decision. This community has shaped me, given me purpose, taught me as much -if not more- as I’ve taught them and I will miss this, and all of you, deeply.⁣

To celebrate our beautiful community and our shared love of dance, we will however host one last event in June. This will be the last open class I will teach for a while. I truly hope to see you all there.⁣

Lots of love,⁣

Nina
