FOR THESE LAST YEARS AN IMPORTANT PART OF OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDED WORKING ON A BIG RANGE OF PROJECTS SUCH AS FILMS AND PERFORMANCES. DURING THESE PROJECTS WE COLLABORATED WITH YOUNG PROFESSIONALS, SUCH AS CINEMATOGRAPHERS, FASHION DESIGNERS AND MUSICIANS. BY WORKING WITH YOUNG ARTISTS WE BELIEVE NOT ONLY OUR DANCERS WILL FIND GROWTH THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS, BUT WE’RE ALLOWING OURSELVES AND OUR PARTNERS TO DEVELOP AS WELL. THIS WAY WE HOPE TO SET AN EXAMPLE THAT YOU CAN ALWAYS LEARN FROM EACH PROCESS YOU STEP INTO.<\/p>

Two short films we shot DURING season II where we had the pleasure of working with two incredible guests performers, Laura Contreras and Rebecca D\u00fcnkler. Although it’s unlike our usual content, we’re thrilled to share it with you. BIRDS<\/p>

A MAREA DANCE COMPANY PRODUCTION<\/p>

AT THE BEGINNING OF SEASON II, WE DECIDED TO TAKE ON THE CHALLENGE OF CREATING A NEW SHORT IN JUST 2 DAYS. WE GOT IN THE CAR TO GERMANY WITH OUR COMPANY, AND WITHOUT HAVING SEEN THE LOCATION, CREATED BIRDS.<\/span><\/p>

In the short film <\/span>Birds <\/span><\/i>by MAREA the company the concept of uniformity with society is explored. How we as humans are part of a whole. In <\/span>Birds <\/span><\/i>five dancers find themselves in this state of numbness, following each other blindly, like a flock of birds. They try to distinguish from what they know, in effort to find their individuality. How does that affect the \u201cflock\u201d? Can individuality and uniformity co-exist?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>


The blindfolds in <\/span>Birds <\/span><\/i>are a symbol of the wall we build around us. At the same time the dancers embrace softness and long for contact. <\/span><\/p>
